Zach Update - August 23, 2008 - These are good days...

These are good days...

Here is a thought:

Happiness is not a destination, you can not buy it, you can not eat it and you certainly can not make it in some lab. Happiness is an experience that comes from knowing that you try and live every hour of everyday expressing your heart that should be filled with gratitude, love, charity and kindness.

Zach has been hanging with friends and continues to operate as if the world is his for the taking. He never complains, takes all the steps that are necessary and hopes that his final outcome will be a long and happy life.

He goes in for chemo again this Monday for an overnight stay. This is the last time that he will have to put up with Doxorubicin "the red devil" as part of this course of treatment. If you wish to see what any patient has as potential side effects and they are numerous, just google the name. This particular chemo always comes back to haunt Zachary the following week (WEAK) and makes him very sick.

Last night he returned to his old High School to watch his brother Gage play fotball (sorry Zach you missed by an hour) with the freshmen class for the annual boosters night/ sports awareness evening. I guess he had a great time as during his senior year he did not get to see any football of any kind and he knew many of the juniors who are now seniors this year as well as a number of the Plainfield community who had not seen him all summer.

What a great week again we are all together still and enjoy each other tremendously even when the kids are making less than spectacular choices sometimes.

We are grateful again for the compassion and concern shown by my co-workers (so many I can not name them all here), our neighbors (thanks again how do we ever give back all that you have given?) family (who knows us the best yet still loves us anyway ha).

And a specal thanks to the rhabdokids members and others that have been on this journey and did not receive the results they wished yet still find some way to fight through their broken hearts to help and support as well as thoose that are still filled with hope right until the end, never giving up.

Love,Kevin, Paula, James, Zachary, Gage and Sierra
